As we all know, COVID-19 is an evolving public health phenomenon and we are closely monitoring the situation. We at NewLife Fertility are successfully helping families on their journey to parenthood by implementing government regulations. Our priority is to focus on health and safety of our patients, staff, and our physicians with providing the best reproductive care possible.

We are dedicated to protecting your dreams of family building in the safest possible way, in the safest environment. We have developed a list of answers to the frequently asked questions about vaccination and fertility.

According to the SOGC recommendations, individuals planning a pregnancy, can complete the entire COVID-19 vaccination series (where possible) to achieve maximal vaccine efficacy ahead of pregnancy. However, it is not yet known whether an individual should delay pregnancy following receipt of the vaccine. If you are trying to conceive you should discuss your potential risks vs. benefits with your health care provider.

According to joint statement of ASRM, ACOG and SMFM “As experts in reproductive health, we continue to recommend that the vaccine be available to pregnant individuals. We also assure patients that there is no evidence that the vaccine can lead to loss of fertility. While fertility was not specifically studied in the clinical trials of the vaccine, no loss of fertility has been reported among trial participants or among the millions who have received the vaccines since their authorization, and no signs of infertility appeared in animal studies. Loss of fertility is scientifically unlikely.”

NewLife Fertility supports SOGC statement and recommends vaccination. For more information on vaccination and its availability, please refer to your local health care facility, your pharmacy or Ontario Public Health website: https:// https://covid-19.ontario.ca/

COVID-19 infection during pregnancy increases the risk for hospitalization. As per the recommendation from SOCG, “All pregnant individuals in the authorized age group are eligible and recommended to be vaccinated as soon as possible, at any stage in pregnancy, as COVID-19 infection during pregnancy can be severe, and the benefits of vaccination outweigh the risks.”

In line with the recommendation from SOGC, NewLife Fertility supports the use of all available COVID-19 vaccines approved in Canada in any trimester of pregnancy and during breastfeeding in accordance with regional eligibility.
